Does the Rafiky application translate audio?

No, the Rafiky application transmits audio. The translation is provided by the interpreter (who works on site or remotely).

 

What bandwidth do you need?

You need at least 4-6 Mbps download / 4-6 Mbdps upload. 

 

How does the integration with Microsoft Teams work?

Speakers and interpreters can participate through Rafiky, while all other participants directly from Microsoft Teams by choosing among the options the translation language channels available for the event.

 

If there is a job offer, will I get an email or do I have to check the site / portal regularly?

We recommend checking both our social networks and our portal.

 

What happens if I accept the handover?

If you accept the handover, it means that your partner has started a countdown after which the translation passes to you.

 

Do I go straight to the air as soon as I accept the handover?

No, the ONAIR / OFFAIR microphone control is absolutely manual. It is the interpreter’s discretion and responsibility to activate or deactivate the microphone. You go on air by manually activating your mic only at the end of the countdown that started your partner (30 sec, 3 min, 5 min).

 

Do I have to turn off the microphone after handover or does it automatically turn off by itself?

Yes, you have to manually turn off the microphone.

 

Is it possible to have both microphones turned on, mine and my partner’s?

Yes, it is possible to have both microphones turned on. Should this mode be prolonged, one of our technicians will turn off one of the two microphones. 

 

Can I manage the switching on and off of the webcam during the event?

Yes, you can manage the switching on and off of the webcam during the event to see the cabin mate since the video system of the interpreters is a one-to-one system in full privacy.

 

If I see my cabin partner’s picture, can I still see the speaker picture too?

Yes, you can also see the speaker and follow the entire meeting. You can also move the partner video (“drag and drop”) so as not to cover important information in the system.

 

If I activate the webcam, am I still visible only to the colleague and not to the participants?

If you activate the webcam, you are only visible to your colleague. Other participants will not be able to see you, only hear you.

 

If I click on “interpreter” in the chat room, do I only write to my partner or to all the interpreters?

If you click on “interpreter” in the chat room, you write to all interpreters. To write only to your partner, you must click on “private” and then “interpreter + name”.

 

Where is the “Mute” button located?

The “Mute” button is activated by pressing the letter “M” on the keyboard.

 

Can the interpreter pause the translation stream?

Yes, just press the “Mute” button on the app display to temporarily mute the audio. When you release the button, the sound will resume. You can optionally mute the audio for a longer period of time by clicking on the same button and dragging it.

 

What kind of microphones or headphones are best to use?

We recommend that interpreters get professional technical equipment – specifically some Pro microphones from our suggestion:

– Connecting the Pro microphones to the computer
– Shure X2U adapters (for quality sound)
– USB to XLR cable for a simple connection (with lower sound level)

Do you need professional microphones?

No, they are not necessary, but highly recommended. We also suggest that you test your microphone with our system beforehand to verify its reception and overall performance.

 

In case of an emergency (no microphones or technical problems), is there an alarm system? 

Yes, technical support will immediately write to you via private chat. If this does not solve the problem, one of the two microphones will be deactivated.

 

Can we see how many people are listening?

Yes, you can see the number of people who are listening from both the app and the management website.

 

Can we see all the participants or just the speaker?

The interpreter has the possibility to see all the participants with active camera or a single speaker / presentation by double clicking on the video of the speaker in question.

 

Can we have several simultaneous interpretations in the same event?

Yes, but you need an interpreter and an electronic device for each additional language.

 

How many language translation options can the app support at the same time?

The application can simultaneously support an unlimited number of language translation.

 

In the event of a multilingual event, do I have to set the translation languages ​​involved?

No, it is the technical team that will set up all the languages ​​involved.

 

What happens if the interpreter chooses to use traditional consoles ?

The Rafiky system can also work with traditional interpretation consoles . The interpreter makes use of the “classic” microphone, to transpose in streaming on desktop and mobile.
